TF Brakemotors and TFP Brakemotors from STM UK

Key features of our TF brake motors:

  • 0.09kw to 9.2kw
  • AC or DC brake options
  • Foot, flange and face mounted options
  • Standard IEC flange and shaft

STM UK TF brake motors apply an electromagnetic disc-brake onto an AC motor which comes into use when lack of current causes the motor (and any devices connected to it) to stop.

Brakemotors from STM UK enable a high stop precision when current is interrupted deliberately. Should the interruption be accidental, the brake motors’ safety margins are high and therefore dependable.

Sprung brakes apply very swiftly in brake-motors when the electromagnet stops its function.

Characteristics:

Double extended shaft; execution available on three phase and single phase motors; potential for brake separate feeding (recommended for two speed motors or when an inverter is in operation).

TF brake motors braking action is effective in both directions of rotation without axial shaft movement; plus, the air gap is easily adjusted when the brake is assembled.

Our standard three phase brake motors feature AC brakes (DC brakes are available – please contact us for more details).

For protection and insulation our brake motors carry class F insulation and IP54 protection (IP55 is available upon request – contact the STM UK technical team).

Key features of our TFP brake motors:

  • 0.09kw to 37kw
  • AC brakes
  • Foot, flange and face mounted options
  • Standard IEC flange and shaft

TFP brakemotors are equipped with an electromagnetic springs brake. This works with the AC current; the disk brake has double braking surface.

STM UK brake motors such as the TFP brakemotors range have been designed to offer optimal release and braking precision, high braking frequency and high starting frequency.

With a three phase feeding current of 230/400V – 50 Hz, the brake connection is not unlike that of a three phase asynchronous motor.

The terminal board with 6 terminals enables a separate feeding of the brake – typically the motor is supplied with the brake fed directly to the motor terminal board.

STM UK provides the screw for the brake hand release with all motors so you can manually rotate the output shaft with a full shaft hexagonal key (5mm or 6mm accordingly).

Our brakemotors in the standard version come supplied with brake torque set to around 70% of the maximum torque.
